Mr. Larson is an innovator in the world of memoir writing as well as writing about memoir. His most recent book, The Memoir and the Memoirist: Reading and Writing Personal Narrative, went into its second printing after only four months. Larson lectures and holds workshops about writing and reading memoirs regularly throughout the country. His memoirs, personal essays, book reviews, and literary criticism have been published in many journals and reviews; Larson is also a regular reviewer for the online Contrary Magazine and a contributing writer for the weekly San Diego Reader, for which he has written more than 35 cover stories. These stories are focused in the genres of investigative journalism, narrative nonfiction, and profile.
