Sandy Asher is the author of nearly two dozen books for young readers, among them TOO MANY FROGS! --
named to the Texas Library Association’s 2 X 2 list, winner of the North Dakota Library Association’s Flicker Tale Award, and nominee for state awards in PA, SC, FL, WY, MT, and NY.  A companion book, WHAT A PARTY!, was recently released.  Sandy is also the editor of five anthologies, including WITH ALL MY HEART, WITH ALL MY MIND, winner of the National Jewish Book Award in children’s literature; ON HER WAY:  Stories and Poems about Growing Up Girl and DUDE! Stories and Stuff for Boys, co-edited with David L. Harrison.
 
As “Sandra Fenichel Asher,” Sandy has also written more than three dozen plays for young and adult audiences, including the award-winning A WOMAN CALLED TRUTH and a recent adaptation of TOO MANY FROGS!  Her plays have been  produced nationwide and in Canada, England, the Czech Republic, New Zealand and Australia.  Her adaptation of Jane Austen’s EMMA has been translated into Dutch, and THE WOLF AND ITS SHADOWS has been translated into Chinese.
 
Sandy is the recipient of a NEA grant in playwriting, the Charlotte Chorpenning Award for a distinguished body of work in children’s theater, and an Aurand Harris playwriting fellowship grant from the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America.  A frequent guest speaker at conferences and in schools, she has served on the boards of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the NCTE Assembly on  
Literature for Adolescents and is a co-founder of the America Writes for Kids Web site.
