Roger’s first poetry dealt with his experiences as a US Marine in Viet Nam. He is a founding member of “The Memorial Day Writer’s Project,’ a Washington, DC–based group of Viet Nam veteran poets and writers who promote the literary works of veterans of all generations. He has been a contributing editor for the publication, Incoming, an anthology of poetry by Viet Nam veterans. In 2002, another five poems were included in the war literature anthology, A Common Bond. Roger has been a featured poet for the Lancaster Literary Guild, at Franklin and Marshall College, Gettysburg College, and Borders of Lancaster and York.
He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a degree in geology and worked as a geologist for the Bureau of Forestry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for 30 years, retiring in 2003. For the past five years, Roger has been creating visual poetry in the form of metal sculptures and mobiles.
