    Marty Crisp

Website

Marty Crisp is the author of 18 books, mostly for kids. Her 19th book, the true story of the cat on the Titanic, is due out from Sleeping Bear Press in 2008.

Published by Holiday House, Philomel, Atheneum, Northword, and Northland, Crisp decided to be a writer in the 8th grade when her social studies teacher, Mrs. Pullen, printed one of her poems and passed it out to the class. She’s been writing “seriously” ever since (O.K., for fun).  Marty’s first “writing job” was with Associated Press, and she’s been a staff writer for the Lancaster Sunday News for almost 23 years.

Marty’s books have won three Dog Writers of America Maxwell medals, two Carolyn Field honors, and been chosen for numerous state children’s choice lists.  She is the mother of four, grandmother of two, and lives with her husband and three dogs in Ephrata, PA.
