Jack Brubaker was born in Bird-in-Hand, graduated from Dickinson College,
edited the Danville (VA) Register, and has worked as an education reporter,
editorial page editor and investigative reporter for the Lancaster New Era. He
has also written “The Scribbler” column for the New Era since 1979.
Brubaker has written four books, the latest of which, DOWN THE
SUSQUEHANNA TO THE CHESAPEAKE, was published by Penn State
Press in 2002. He is currently at work on a book about the killing of the last of the
Conestoga Indians by the Paxton Boys in 1763.
Jack and his wife, Christine, live in Manor Township.
